Deckhands is a program custom designed by Regatta Point Community Sailing especially for children age 10+. Working in small groups, beginning sailors learn about responsibility and collaboration, while experiencing the practical application of science and mathematics. Because sailing is primarily a team effort, from rigging to racing, success depends upon working and learning together. Through a combination of on the water and in the classroom instruction, students will cover such topics as sailing and boating safety, nautical terminology, rigging, knots and points of sail. Our brand new modern boathouse offers a classroom, private bathrooms, and indoor and outdoor sheltered spaces for learning. Our primary training boats are safe, stable White 14's. We oversee sailing practice from out two safety launches. Our staff is made up of trained professionals, many of whom learned to sail right here at Regatta Point! We operate in small groups, and set the day's agenda is set according to the needs of the group.
